How to Sign Up and Onboard
Your Library on Cat & Class

Create Your Account

Fill in the signup form with your accurate information
Enter your full name, email address, and password to create your Cat & Class account. Use accurate information as this will represent your institution on the platform.

Use a business or institutional email address
We strongly recommend using your institution's official email address such as librarian@university.edu. This helps verify your institution in the Cat & Class Bibliographic Commons and builds trust with other libraries.

Create a strong password
Enter a strong password. After clicking Sign Up, a confirmation link will be sent to your email address. You must click that link to verify your account and continue to onboarding.

Click Sign Up
Click the Sign Up button to submit your registration. Check your email inbox immediately — a confirmation link will arrive within 2 minutes. Check your spam folder if you do not see it.

Set Up Your Library

Fill in your library details on the onboarding page
After clicking the confirmation link in your email, you will be redirected to the library onboarding page. Fill in all fields accurately — your library name permanently represents your institution in the Cat & Class Bibliographic Commons.

Click on Select a Country
Click the country dropdown to select the country where your library is located. Your country determines the prefix of your institution code in the CC Bibliographic Commons.

Scroll or type to find your country. The country selection determines your institution code prefix — for example NG- for Nigeria, US- for United States, GB- for United Kingdom.

Your unique institution code is auto-generated
As you type your library name and select your country, Cat & Class automatically generates a unique institution code shown in blue — for example US-GREENF. This code permanently identifies your institution in the CC Bibliographic Commons worldwide. It is read-only and managed by Cat & Class.

Select your Library Type
Choose the type that best describes your institution: Academic, Public, School, Special, Archive, Research, Government, or Corporate. This helps Cat & Class personalize your experience.

Enter your institution's official website
Enter your institution's website address. This is optional but recommended — it helps verify your library's identity in the CC Bibliographic Commons and makes your institution discoverable to other member libraries.

Click Next to proceed to your profile
Review your library details then click Next to proceed to the personal profile setup step.

Set Up Your Profile

Fill in your personal librarian profile
Enter your display name as you want it to appear on your dashboard and to colleagues in your organization. This is your professional identity within Cat & Class.

Select the role that best represents your position
Choose from Cataloger, Senior Cataloger, Metadata Librarian, Technical Services Librarian, Systems Librarian, Archivist, Library Technician, Library Specialist, Library Director, or Admin.

Enter your years of professional experience
Enter the number of years you have worked as a library professional. You can also add your area of specialization. This information is visible to colleagues in your organization.

Click Next to review your details
Click Next to proceed to the confirmation screen where you will review your library and profile information before launching.

Click Launch Cat & Class — Welcome aboard
Review your details on the confirmation screen — library name, country, type, and your profile. When everything looks correct, click the green Launch Cat & Class button. You will land on your library dashboard immediately. Your library is now live on Cat & Class.
